1. A Very Lovely Girl

Victoria was a lovely girl — the kind who held doors open, shared her crayons, and always remembered to say “thank you.” Everyone agreed she had a heart as warm as a cup of cocoa.

But Victoria had one tiny problem.

Her slippers.

They were fluffy, beige, and cosy… …and she never remembered to put them back on.

2. The Slipper Trail

Every day, Victoria wore her slippers around the house. But the moment she sat on the sofa, off they came. When she sat at the table, off they came. When she played with her toys, off they came.

And wherever they landed… …they stayed.

Mum tripped over them in the hallway. Her brother James tripped over them by the sofa. Even her sister, Harriet, slid across the floor like a furry ice cube.

“Victoria,” Mum sighed, “you must remember to put your slippers away.” “I will!” Victoria promised. But she forgot. Every. Single. Time.

3. The Day Everything Changed

One Saturday morning, Dad came downstairs carrying a basket of laundry. He stepped into the living room…

…and THUMP!

Dad tripped over Victoria’s slippers and landed in a heap on the carpet.

“Ow, my ankle,” he groaned.

Victoria gasped. “Dad! Are you okay?”

Dad tried to stand, but his ankle wobbled like jelly. The doctor said it was sprained and needed rest.

That meant:

  • No going to work for a few days
  • No basketball in the garden
  • And worst of all… No trip to the park that weekend

Victoria’s heart sank. She loved the park. Dad loved the park. Everyone loved the park.

And it was all because of her slippers.

4. A Big Realisation

Victoria sat on her bed, hugging her knees. “I didn’t mean to hurt anyone,” she whispered. “I just… forgot.”

Then she remembered Mum tripping. And James tripping. And Harriet sliding across the floor. She didn’t want anyone else to get hurt. She didn’t want to make life harder for her family.

She wanted to be helpful — not hazardous.

5. A New Plan

Victoria marched to the living room, picked up her slippers, and placed them neatly in the shoe basket.

Then she made a sign:

“SLIPPERS LIVE HERE!”

She decorated it with stars, hearts, and a drawing of two very obedient slippers.

From that day on, whenever she took her slippers off, she carried them straight to the basket. Sometimes she forgot for a moment — but then she remembered. And every time she remembered, she felt proud.

6. A Happy Ending

Dad’s ankle healed quickly, and the next weekend they all went to the park together.

Victoria zoomed down the slide, James played football, Dad cheered from the bench, and Harriet ran away from butterflies.

When they got home, Victoria kicked off her slippers… …and paused.

She picked them up, walked to the basket, and placed them inside.

Dad smiled. “Thank you, Victoria. That’s very thoughtful.”

Victoria beamed. Being kind wasn’t just about sharing or helping. It was also about thinking of others and putting things away so everyone could be safe and happy.

And from then on, Victoria’s slippers never caused trouble again.

(Well… almost never.)
